Gale Huell Hart passed from this life on May 11, 2026. Gale was born in Montrose on May 31, 1939, to Mae and Constance “Connie” Hart. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Cathedral School, where he met the love of his life, Sharon Oster, and they were married on June 6, 1959. Together they raised six children who brought them immense pride and joy. 

Gale dedicated his career to teaching and coaching, helping shape the lives of young people both in and out of the classroom. Some of his happiest moments were spent camping, enjoying nature, and being with those he loved. Though she passed 17 years ago, he remained thankful for the life and love he shared with his wife, Sharon.

Gale is lovingly remembered by his children: Carey (Kevin) Duffy of Sioux Falls; Cathy (Mike)Spanbauer of Green Bay, WI; Cristy (Joel) Anderson of Shell Lake, WI; Jeff (Shelly) Hart of Sioux Falls; Shaun Hart of Bozeman, MT; and Matthew (Lei) Hart of Portland, OR. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family asks that memorials be directed to Dougherty Hospice House.
