Astrid “Nikki” (Lund) Clarson

Astrid “Nikki” (Lund) Clarson was born on 12/11/1918 to Anna (Johansen) and Waldamer Lund in Vejle, Denmark. Astrid passed away peacefully on January 30^th, 2021 at the age of 102. 

  Astrid Lund was the second youngest of 9 children. Her family moved from Denmark to the United States when Astrid was 7 years old. They created a home near Diamond Lake Township, in Lincoln County, Minnesota. 

  Astrid’s adventurous spirit took her all over the world. In her early twenties she began work in a civil service position as a bookkeeper/secretary for the Air Force. This career took her to such places as California, Hawaii, Japan, and Alaska.  

  In her late thirties she settled in Omaha, Nebraska and stayed there until 2016. In Omaha she worked for a number of years at the Brandeis Department Store. She also worked for a photographer, traveling across the Midwest and selling portraits. She worked into her late 80’s and loved meeting new people and sharing stories of all her life experiences. In 2016 she moved to Sioux Falls, SD to be closer to family.

  Astrid is survived by her nephew: Richard Lawrence; Great-Niece: Shannen (Curtis) Scheafer, and their children: Quaid, Noah, and Taite Scheafer; Great-Niece: Valerie (David) Erschens, and Val’s children: Jenni, Tara, and Joshua Christensen; Nephew: Jeffery Lund; and Niece: Linda (Jim) Berkenpas and family. Astrid was also blessed with her close friends: Barb and Wally from Omaha. Astrid is preceded in death by her daughter, Marianna Clarson of Sherwood Oaks, CA, her Niece, Susy Lawrence, and her siblings, Annie, Johannas, Dagmar, Thora, Marianna, Christian, Jens, and Knute.
