Steven Richard Dvorak

Steven Richard Dvorak, 72, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away peacefully at the Doughtery Hospice House on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Steven Richard Dvorak was born June 2, 1949 to Steve and Anne (Cink) Dvorak in Sioux Falls, SD. He was raised on the farm in Parker, SD until moving to Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated from Lincoln High School. After high school, he attended Sioux Falls College earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He also served his country in the US National Guard for 6 years. During this time, he began his career at K-Mart. His loyalty to the company exceeded more than 40 years. Steve’s career advancements provided numerous opportunities to move the family throughout the Midwest (South Dakota, North Dakota, Illinois, Utah). 

At the beginning of his career, Steve met his love, Deborah (Deb) Schulz and they married on July 4th, 1970. Over the years, Steve was active in the Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Lambert’s and Knights of Columbus. Steve was passionate in all sports especially a love for baseball, football, and basketball. Spending as much time with family was of utmost importance to Steve as he was always happy to join in on whiffle ball games in the backyard. Steve was also an enthusiastic fisherman. He enjoyed many camping and fishing adventures with his family and taught his kids how to fish. Steve was very dedicated to his family and more importantly dedicated to his faith to God. 

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife: Deb Dvorak of Sioux Falls; his children: Lance (Sonya) Dvorak of Valley Springs, SD, Erik (Tiffany) Dvorak of Chehalis, WA, Elizabeth (Eric) Carlson of Lake Wilson, MN; his sister: Alice (Vern) Staebell of Sioux Falls. Steve was happy to know his nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Steve and Anne Dvorak; brothers: Norman, Ron, Jack Dvorak; and sister: Dorothy Gab.  

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Monday, August 2nd at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with a Liturgical Wake service at 6:30 PM A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 3rd at St. Lambert’s Church with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
