David Clark Fisher
10-24-2021

David Clark Fisher, 63, of Sioux Falls, went home to his Lord on October 24, 2021, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
David was born on April 2, 1958, to Burdette and Judith (Tate) Fisher in Freeport, Illinois. David was very active in the Boy Scouts in his teen years and achieved the prestigious award of Order of the Arrow when he was an Eagle Scout. While in scouts he took great pride in his involvement with the Ou-Ray dance team. This was an authentic Indian dance troop that was an off shoot of the Boy Scouts. David danced at many Pow Wows, competitions, parades and private bookings. He took his native American heritage very seriously and was actively involved in the AIM movement, while in high school in Freeport, Illinois, gathering clothing and blankets to be donated to inhabitants of the Rose Bud reservation in South Dakota. He married Lois Sorenson in June of 1991. David wore many different hats in his endeavor for the perfect career. One of his favorites was Music Manager at Best Buy in Sioux Falls.
David's favorite past time was camping with his wife and his dog. David, at one time, went totally AWOL and spent 7 consecutive months in a tent with his favorite camping companion, his boarder collie, Cheyenne. He would come home to shower and pick up clean clothes. His wife had to come out on weekends just to see him and the dog. He loved music and could answer just about any obscure trivia question regarding rock and roll. He enjoyed drawing and was an extremely inventive artist. His sense of humor and fascinating story telling was always a treat for family and friends. He had a compassion for those less fortunate and was always willing to give and stand up for the underdog. David loved his Chicago Bears and wore his navy blue and orange proudly. One of his favorite things to do was cook for his family. He was a sensational cook and enjoyed entertaining. David loved to travel and enjoyed many vacations with his Grandmother and Aunt as a young boy. His favorite vacation was to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, this past year, with his wife and several good friends.
David is survived by his wife: Lois (Sorenson) Fisher of 30 years; daughter: Devon (Brodie) Clarke of Missouri; sisters: Vicki (Eldon) Warne of Livingston, WI., Tracy (Anthony) Bustos of Freeport, IIl., Laura Frey of Marseilles, IL., Terrie Fisher of Astoria, OR.; and many nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by father, Burdette Fisher; mother, Judith (Tate) Schroeder; sisters, Melanie and Jackie Hutmacher; sister, Cindy (Fisher) Harkless; and brothers, Robert Fisher and Burdette Fisher Jr.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 12:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home.
