Helen Ann Anfinson (Nelson)

August 23, 1934 – August 27, 2024

Helen Ann Anfinson, age 90, died at her home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on August 27, 2024 of natural causes. Helen was born in Danvers, Minnesota on August 23, 1934 to Martin and Helen (Gallagher) Nelson. She attended school in Watertown, South Dakota and graduated from Watertown High School in 1952. Helen moved to Minneapolis where she worked for the phone company. On October 2, 1954 Helen married Jack Anfinson in Minneapolis where they made their home.

Helen and Jack settled in Sioux Falls where they raised three children: Marie (Paul) Rickert of Sioux Falls, SD, Liz (Leif) Rasmussen of Bloomington, MN, and John (Lynn) Anfinson of Issaquah, WA. Helen was a cherished grandmother to Matt Rickert, Nick Rickert, Anne Rickert, Will Rasmussen, Eric Rasmussen, Nolan Rasmussen, Grace Anfinson and Emma Anfinson, and three great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband Jack.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials preferred to the Sioux Falls El Raid Shrine Transportation Fund or the donor’s choice.
