Elizabeth “Betty” Marie Wallace,

Elizabeth “Betty” Marie Wallace, 81, passed away at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on September 9, 2024. She was born to Art and Adeline Veverka in Canby, Minnesota on August 13, 1943 where she grew up.

Betty graduated from Canby High School and then attended the St. Francis Nursing School in Breckenridge, Minnesota. After achieving her Nursing Degree, she returned to Canby and worked at the hospital there for about a year. She then was hired at Southdale Fairview Hospital and relocated to Bloomington, Minnesota. It is there that she met the love of her life, John Wallace and they were married on November 26, 1966.

Her career at Southdale Fairview blossomed and she was put in charge of an entire floor. She left that career in 1972 to pursue the next great passion in her life; motherhood.

She continued to express her compassion and caring for others through staying active in the church and volunteering in her community. In 1984, she moved with her family to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She brought with her to Sioux Falls her spirit of service and was very active at St. Michael Parish and the St. Vincent DePaul Society, touching countless lives through her volunteer efforts.

She is survived by her son: Arthur (D'alana); siblings Bonita “Bonnie” Wylie and Janet Jerzak; grandchildren: John P. III, Lucas, Nicholas, Tristan, and Phoebe; great-grandson: Ryker and many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband: John P; son: John P Jr; and her parents.

Visitation will be Monday, September 16, 5:00 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a Scripture Vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Will be Tuesday, September 17, 11:00 AM at St. Michael Parish.
