Robert "Bob" Feist 06-27-2009
Robert "Bob" John Feist, 72, of Sioux Falls passed away at home on June 27, 2009 after suffering a lengthy illness. Bob was born on November 5, 1936 to parents John and Barbara Feist in Zeeland, North Dakota. Bob served in the Armed Forces from 1954 to 1956. He was honorably discharged from the Service after spending most of his active duty in Europe. He was always very proud to have served our Nation in this way.
Bob married Bernice Feist on September 21, 1959. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary this September. After their marriage they made their home in Pierre, South Dakota until they moved their family to Sioux Falls in 1974. Bob had many occupations; he worked as a carpenter on the Oaha Dam, delivered milk for Terrace Park Dairy, was a carpenter for several different companies and eventually retired from Gateway in 2002.
He was a devoted husband and father. His favorite activity was spending time with his family. His eleven grand children were his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by an infant son Neal Robert, both his parents and his younger brother Richard.
Surviving Bob are his wife, Bernice; his children Barbie & (Lyndon) Hofer of Bridgewater, South Dakota, Duane of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Darin of Cologne, Minnesota. Eleven grand children: Amanda (Rodney) Mettler, Ashton Hofer, Ellie, Jared, Noah, Anna, Rachel, April, Kendall, Greta and Holly: one brother Charlie and sister Joann.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Wake services will be at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 with visitation beginning at 5 PM.
