Sherry Dawn Amburn
03-24-2025

Sherry Amburn, 66, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus with her family by her side on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. A private family memorial will be arranged at a future date.

Sherry Dawn Skaff was born on September 29, 1958, in Sioux Falls to Tom and Bonnie Skaff. She graduated from Washington High School in 1976 and went on to nursing school where she obtained her LPN license. She married Brad Tefft in 1977 with whom she had her two oldest daughters, Brandy and Brooke.

She was united in marriage to Robert Amburn in 1985 with whom she had her son, Robert Jr., and daughter, Bonny.

Sherry worked as a nurse her entire career. She loved the time she worked at Avera McKennan on Labor and Delivery, helping bring babies into the world. She spent seven years at The Inn at Westport at a Unit Coordinator where the residents became her second family. She was most recently back at Avera McKennan working as a float nurse in various clinics.

The most important things in Sherry’s life were her relationship with Jesus and her family. She was a devoted wife and mother; the love she had for her husband and children was immeasurable. She was always available to listen, give her best advice and amazing hugs. Anyone who met Sherry will never be able to forget her warmth, kindness, generosity, and compassion. Words cannot express how much Sherry was loved by her family and friends or how greatly she will be missed.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband: Robert Amburn; daughters: Brandy Tefft, Brooke (Dale) Pope, and Bonny Amburn; son: Bobby Amburn; and grandchildren: Samuel, Leah, Jaxon, Jada, Zae, Kye, and Nali. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Bonnie Skaff, and sister, Debra Jaqua.
