Marilee (Huff) Kontz of Sioux Falls passed away September 22, 2026. Marilee was born April 22, 1956 in Vallejo, CA to Joseph and Mary (Caruso) Huff. She graduated from O’Gorman High School in 1974.

After graduation, she enlisted and served in the South Dakota Air National Guard as a Defender (Security Force). Upon completion of her military service, she entered the health care field as a medical secretary before becoming the Children’s Camping Coordinator for Sanford Health.

In this position, she was able to enrich the lives of both campers and staff, providing experiences that they may not have had the opportunity to experience otherwise.

From Lake Shetek, to Camp Lakota, Camp Courage, Joy Ranch, and beyond, she was able to offer children with varying abilities summer adventures they would never forget.

She enjoyed coaching softball, camping, fishing, and traveling with her family.

Marilee’s smile never lit up a room…it BLINDED it. She was always up for fun, a good laugh, and practical jokes.

Marilee is survived by her partner: Bruce Livesay; and her son Nick Kontz. She is also survived by a sister: Vicki Hayes; and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her daughter: Jess, brother Joe: sister: Michele, her brother-in-law: Pat Hayes, and her parents.

A visitation will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, 5:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home.
