Klara Santee

Klara Santee was born on April 15, 1905 in Walton County Illinois to Bernard and Renea Klapprodt. Her family farmed in the Hartford area, and west of Sioux Falls by Skunk Creek. One of Klara's earliest jobs was delivering milk for the RedTop Dairy which was the family dairy. In the mid 1930's she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri. During the war she studied guitar and worked in the Defense Plant during WW II. On October 31, 1943 she married Donald P. Santee. Their son Charles Santee was born in on April 9, 1945. Shortly after that the family moved to Sioux Falls, and moved into the residence they lived in since. After returning to Sioux Falls she worked as a housekeeper for several families. She was with several of them for many years. In her spare time she sold Stanley Home Products. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, puttering around, rummage sales and collecting everything. She was a member of First Presbyterian for over 50 years. She was a quiet person so only the Lord knows her good works. Klara is survived by her son: Charles; four nephews and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother: Adolf Klapprodt; a sister: Mabel Skinner and one niece. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Thursday, 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church.
