Elizabeth Gardien "Gardie" Enright

Elizabeth Gardien "Gardie" Enright, 80, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at her home. Gardie O'Connor was born June 3, 1931, in Fond du Lac, WI to Gordon and Hazel (Ward) O'Connor. She attended St. Mary's Springs Academy and graduated with a B.S. in Home Economics from the University of Wisconsin. She taught in Sheboygan, WI, and then worked for International Milling Company/Robin Hood Flour, for whom she wrote a cookbook. She held a variety of other positions, including managing Courtney's Books and Things in Sioux Falls. She was a member of St. Mary's Church for more than 50 years. Gardie married Richard Charles (Dick) Enright on February 1, 1958. She was preceded in death by Dick and her parents, one sister Sarah (Sally) and one brother Gordon. Gardie is survived by her six children: Mary Enright, Sioux Falls; Betsy (Hank) Brummer, Woodbury, MN; Chuck (Karen) Enright, Indianapolis, IN; Margaret (Conrad) Kovash, Spokane, WA; Catherine Enright, Aurora, CO; Jane (David) Grimme, Virginia Beach, VA; 2 granddaughters, 10 grandsons, and 1 great granddaughter. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary's School or the Prairie Center/Avera McKennan Hospital, both in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be Thursday, 5 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a Scripture Vigil at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church.
