Leona Marie Barrett

Leona Marie Barrett, 81, died November 17, 2007 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Leona was born on November 24, 1924 to Daniel and Florence Callier in Brandt, South Dakota. She attended school and graduated from Brandt High School. On July 29, 1947, she was united in marriage to Vernon Barrett in White, South Dakota. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1949. Leona worked for Red Owl, Midwest Beach and retired from O'Connor Printing in 1978. Leona is survived by several nieces and nephews and special cousins: Joan Denning of Searchlight, NV, Jo Anne (Jerry) Nelson, and Deloris Brown, all of Huron, SD and Norvin (Deb) Brown of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vernon; sisters: Deloris, Eleanor, Dorothy and Lucille; and special cousin Jim Denning. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Heart and Lung Association and the Avera McKennan Foundation. Visitation will be Friday, 4:00 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a Scripture Vigil at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 11:30 AM at St. Lambert's Church with burial to follow at the National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota.
