Patricia M. Dysthe 12-06-2007
Diagnosed with lung cancer in December, 2005, Patricia Dysthe passed
away on December 6, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Patricia was born August 7, 1931 to Victor and Marie (Horrell)
Wathen on their family farm southeast of Pipestone, Minnesota.
Patricia was united in marriage to Douglas Dysthe on April 28, 1952
in Pipestone, Minnesota. Together, they owned and operated Dysthe
Grocery in Chandler, Minnesota until 1973. In 1975 they moved to
Sisseton, South Dakota where they owned and operated the Viking
Motel until 1979. They moved back to Chandler and then in 1982, they
moved to Sioux Falls.
Patricia was a Mary Kay consultant and she taught line-dancing at
the Bergland Center. She loved to ballroom dance. She was a member
of the Scarlet Angels Red Hat Ladies Group, the Catholic Daughters,
and the Widows Group. She was a member of St. Michael's Church for
26 years and was a Eucharistic Minister for nursing homes.
Patricia is survived by her children: Scott (Geraldine), Kelly, and
Dawn (Randy) Barrett; grandchildren: Reed (Denyse) Barrett, Natalie
(David) Brown, Jaclyn Barrett (special friend Travis Nelson) ,
Mikayla Dysthe and Caleb Dysthe; great-grandchildren: Daylen,
Laney and Dawson Brown, Rayna and Addyson Barrett, John and Madison
Dysthe and Miley Nelson; sisters: Lorraine Pierce, Thelma
Westerbur, Rita Paulsen and Bernadine VanHoecke; brother: Howard
Wathen (Judy); sister-in-law: Sue Wathen, special friend: Bud
Thoms; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, son: Bradley, sister: Mary and grandson: Kilen.
Visitation will be Monday, 4 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a
Scripture Vigil at 7 PM followed by the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:30 AM at St. Michael's Church.
