Helen E. Forsberg

Helen E. Forsberg passed Thursday, February 14, 2013 at home in Cameron, Missouri. Helen was born on February 20, 1927 near White, South Dakota to George and Kathryn Stahr. She moved to Sioux Falls as a teen where she met and married John G. Forsberg on August 17, 1946 in Twin Brooks, South Dakota. Together they made their home in Sioux Falls where they had three children. Helen was guided by her strong faith to volunteer with many organizations. She is a lifetime member of Catholic Daughters and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, eldest son: John M. Forsberg; and one sister: Theresa Voldseth. Survivors include her daughter: Gayla Petsche (Brad) of Cameron, Missouri; her son: Thomas Forsberg (Janet) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and daughter-in-law: Jeanie Forsberg of Sioux Falls; one brother: Henry Stahr (Irene) of Ames, Iowa; sisters: Patricia Foster of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mary Lutz (Jerry) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

She enjoyed sharing her love with 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 1 honorary granddaughter. She was blessed to have 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 4:30 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a Catholic Daughter Rosary at 5:30 PM followed by a Scripture Vigil at 6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, 1:30 PM at the Cathedral of St. Joseph Sacred Heart Chapel.
