Virginia Ann Merhar

Virginia "Ginny" Ann Merhar, 65, passed away February 2, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on September 13, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa to Eddie and Martha Johnston. She was a long time resident of Sioux Falls before residing in Las Vegas for the last 14 years. Virginia was a retired professional barber. She owned Ginny's Cut Above Barber's Shop before retiring to Las Vegas. She was a past president of the South Dakota Barber's Association. She was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherwoman; she enjoyed arts and crafts, collecting rocks and paperweights. She also loved to travel and enjoyed entertainment. Virginia is survived by her husband: Bob Merhar; son: Gary Smith; daughters: Kim Smith and Nancy Smith; brother: Jim (Sharon) Johnston; loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Darold Smith and Dick Wilgers; and a brother: Charlie Johnston. She also had numerous cherished friendships. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4801 E. 6th Street, Sioux Falls, Saturday February 23, at 7 PM with refreshments served after.
